Baroness Cumberlege is a Conservative Peer.

Baroness Julia Cumberlege CBE parliamentary Secretary of State for Health 1992 – 97. Past Chair of East Sussex Social Services, Brighton Health Authority, SW Thames Region, St George’s Medical School and Mentor NHS Supervisory Board.

She Chaired the government review of Neighbourhood Nursing – a Focus for Care (introduced nursing practitioner and nurse prescribing to the NHS); Maternity Review – Changing Childbirth, is Patron of National Childbirth trust, Vice President Royal College of Midwives and Honorary Fellow of five Royal Colleges.

She has Chaired (completed 2016) and now implementing a review of the national maternity services Better Births (improving outcomes for maternity in England) and currently chairs the Independent Medicines and Medical Devices Safety Review.
