More Than A Tick Box

Lisa has a degree in Biological Health Sciences and a master’s diploma in Public Health. She worked in Public Health for 15 years; delivering sex education to vulnerable young people before taking up a post as a health improvement specialist at NHS Leeds. She then transferred her role to become a commissioner, performance managing services in the drug and alcohol sector. She has recently taken up a post as a perinatal and pregnancy mental health ambassador for the NHS, which involves promoting the wellbeing of Mums and Mums-to-be in Leeds.

She is also co-founder of More Than A Tick Box and has built her career around her previous mental health experiences. This campaigns for improved perinatal mental health and offers a range of services for individuals, professionals and organisations to receive the support they need.

Lisa talks openly about her experiences with postnatal depression and postpartum psychosis and has shared her story in the media, including National tabloids, Woman’s magazine, BBC Radio and local television. She now has a regular slot on BBC Radio Leeds and has also written an e-book titled ‘Make up & Break downs’ sharing her story of early motherhood.
