Maureen Collins
Hypnobirthing Teacher/Trainer
Maureen qualified as a Registered General Nurse before she went on to qualify as a Registered Midwife. She has a BA(Hons) in Health Studies/Health Promotion and a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Ethics.
Maureen has worked as a midwife in both hospital and community settings. She managed a Midwife Led Unit at the Liverpool Women’s Hospital, was an Associate Lecturer at Liverpool University, a head of Governance and the Head of Midwifery for One to One Midwives, Maureen also worked in the US for seven years as a Programme Manager in Maternal and Child Health. She is currently a self-employed Midwifery Consultant and a Hypnobirthing Teacher/Trainer.
She is trained in both Marie Mongan and KG Hypnobirthing and has taught midwives and birth workers in the UK, Hong Kong and China. Together with the renowned Hypnobirthing teacher and Hypnotherapist Sonia Richards wrote the Royal College of Midwives Accredited Hypnobirthing Teacher Training course – Birth like a boss.
In addition, Maureen also has her own Birth Coaching Company www.thebirthcoachingcompany.co.uk and has supported over 1000 couples to achieve a positive birth experience.
She has spoken at conferences in the UK, US and Hong Kong.
She has had articles published in the British Journal of Midwifery and MIDIRS.
Her passion is for ensuring that all women have access to ethical maternity care, that their human rights are respected and that they are energised to take control of their birth. That when they tell their story it is a positive one, even when things don’t go according to plan, because it’s not just about the birth but about the emotional and social impact on the woman and her family. Memories that last a lifetime.
